Prepare the Mac you want to reach
The host is the Mac whose screen you want to control. Install your supplied beta in Applications, open it and enable incoming connections. It must be running macOS 14 or later, awake and logged in. Your controlling Mac also needs the desktop app.
Allow Screen Recording so the app can capture the display, and Accessibility so it can apply keyboard and mouse input. Reopen the app after changing permissions. Follow the permission guide.
Enter the host’s device credentials
On the Mac you are controlling from, follow the member sign-in prompt if shown. Enter the host’s six-digit device ID and PC connection password. Use the credentials shown on the host, not illustrative numbers from this website. The member password and connection password serve different purposes.
First confirm the connection on your own network. Then test the actual external network you intend to use. A successful local connection does not prove that a hotel, office or cellular network will allow the same direct path.
Make the desktop fit your work
Choose a work mode, transmission resolution and display scale. The desktop app remembers these settings per remote device. Try fit-to-screen for a smaller laptop display, or original size when you need to inspect detail. Network and hardware conditions still determine the actual result.
Enable clipboard sharing on both desktops to exchange newly copied text and supported PNG images. Image sharing requires updated desktop apps; large or unsupported items can be sent with file transfer. Share only the files and clipboard content you intend to expose.
Finish and prepare the next session
End the session when you finish. Clipboard and audio sharing consent are not restored from saved viewing preferences. The host must stay awake and signed in for a later connection; this beta does not unlock FileVault, wake a sleeping Mac or control the login screen.
